Ofsted and Performance Tables

Please find below our most recent Ofsted reports, and relevant information from the Department for Education Performance Tables.

Changes to Ofsted Inspections

Ofsted has introduced a new inspection framework for schools, starting from November 2025.

To help explain these changes, we are sharing this short video below.

What’s changing?
ALMOST EVERYTHING!

  • No more single grade (like “Good” or “Outstanding”).
Instead, schools will receive a report showing how they are doing in different areas.
  • Inspectors will look more closely at:

- how well pupils are supported and included

- behaviour and attendance

- safeguarding and wellbeing

- the quality of teaching and the curriculum
- achievement

The aim is to give families a fair, clear and more complete picture of each school.

Why this matters:

These changes mean parents will get more useful information about:

  • what our school does well
  • where we need to improve
  • how we support all pupils, including those with additional needs

We hope the video helps to explain the new approach. The framework is new for everyone, including inspectors, and has been trialled during the autumn term. Headteachers are currently completing training so they can support staff in understanding the changes.

We recently met with Ofsted’s Regional Director, who emphasised that this is a fundamentally different way of looking at schools. Because the new system reports on several areas separately, schools are likely to have a more varied profile than before as everyone becomes familiar with the process.

The video sets this out in simple, easy-to-understand terms.

New Ofsted report cards and grades: a guide for parents

Ofsted has improved how we report the findings of education inspections. We've designed our new-look report cards with parents and carers in mind, to give you a clearer picture of what's working well and where the next steps for improvement are - at a childminder, nursery, school, college or apprenticeship provider.

EMPINGHAM CE PRIMARY SCHOOL OFSTED REPORT - JULY 2023

It gives me immense pleasure to share our report with you. Below I have identified some of the many highlights.  I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff, Governors and yourselves for helping our school to thrive and be the very special place it is. The children must take enormous credit here too, as they are our real champions and ambassadors.

The Empingham ‘Family’
Many parents comment positively about the ‘family feel’ provided by the school;

  • Pupils enjoy coming to this happy village school.
  • They thrive because they are known as individuals.
  • A culture of high expectations – highly ambitious.
  • High levels of care for pupils - positive relationships.
  • Active participants in their learning.
  • An ambitious curriculum that is broad, detailed and engaging.
  • Effective early reading and phonics
  • Inclusive.
  • Leaders and governors share the ambition that pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) will experience success.
  • Strong safeguarding.
  • Strong leadership and staff teamwork – across both schools.
