Welcome to Year 1 and 2 – Bear Grylls Class!

A very warm welcome back to a brand-new, sparkling academic year! I’m absolutely delighted to be teaching your children this year, and I can’t wait to share in all the wonderful learning, discoveries, and adventures that lie ahead.

As our class name suggests, we’ll be channelling our inner Bear Grylls spirit—ready to explore, discover, and take on exciting challenges together.

This term, our learning journey begins with a fascinating topic: toys from the past and present. We’ll even be heading off on a trip to the Peterborough Toy Museum, which was such a memorable experience when we visited last time.

In science, we’ll be observing how the world around us changes as we move through the four seasons, marking the patterns and surprises each one brings. Our English unit ties in beautifully with our theme as we bring to life the much-loved classic story Old Bear—a timeless tale that never fails to spark children’s imaginations.

I’ll keep you updated each term with an overview of our learning, so you’ll always know what we’re exploring in class (You will find term 1 overview in 'knowledge organisers' further down this page.)

PE will be on Tuesdays with either myself or Miss Bainbridge (a familiar face!). Please make sure children have their PE kits in school every day, as this allows us to stay flexible.
